One Unforgettable Day to Help Your Teen Build Confidence, Communication, and Character

A hands-on leadership challenge event for middle and high school students who want to Step Up, Speak Up, and Stand Out.

What is the Standout? A one-day leadership and social skills competition where students rotate through fast-paced, real-world challenges guided by business and community mentors. They'll grow the skills employers say are hardest to teach. Opportunities to develop these skills are also hard to find, especially with real mentors who care enough to help kids grow. So although there is a 'winner' of the event, all students who participate leave with valuable skills, experience, and connections.

The Student Experience

What will students experience during the St Pete Standout?

First and Foremost: Experience Collaboration + Connection

Students will be with others just like them, so this is a great opportunity to connect with other future leaders.

The Skills Sprint

Students rotate through rapid-fire skill challenges highlighting communication, adaptability, and teamwork. Led by local professionals, the skills stations are 2 minutes each, real-world focused, and designed to reinforce the kinds of skills professionals use every day. s

Leadership Labs

Work the Room and The Hot Seats are small-group experiences where students practice networking, low-stakes speaking, conversation skills, and professional presence.

The Finals

Top performers advance to auditorium-style Q&A and Debate rounds, where they will debate current events, answer questions on stage, and vie for a chance to be designated the St Pete Standout Student of the Year.
