Two things happened last week that reminded me of the importance of the partnership of our parents and our teachers.
1. We had another family meal. If you’re new to us, take a look at why we make it a point to have them every single month. What was different this time was that it was intentionally divided so that our dads/male role models spent time with their sons and our mothers/female role models spent the afternoon with their daughters. What did not change, was the fact that all of our parents showed up. In the middle of a work day, some participating in an activity that they’d never done before, and some willingly stepping into those roles for other kids who don’t have those relationships.
2. I was invited to “model” again for one of my former students. Check out this prior post to understand the relevancy.
Another event that is coming up in our near future, our Open House this Thursday, also provided a timely reminder. If you are looking to join the “Indi-ED Family”, you’ll have to understand that it is not an “us” and “you” relationship. It is a partnership. We’re here to support your family and our families support us. Because at the end of the day, we’re all on the same team, doing our best, with the same goal-to help your child succeed.
