This will be the first time in almost two years that we will not be posting our blog on Monday as our area is bracing for hurricane Irma and loss of power is almost certain.
The mix of emotions throughout this week in preparation have been exhausting and depending on where it makes landfall, may only be the beginning.
Packing up your home and school unsure of whether or not it will be there for you when you return is gut wrenching.
But what an opportunity it presents for us to consider what’s really important.
The people and the memories seem to be what most hold dear.
New furniture or the books…replaceable.
Report cards…irrelevant.
Letters from my students and the safe whereabouts of our families…the only things that matter.
I’m having trouble finding the words this week.
We’re certainly hoping for the best. However, I for one am ready for Tuesday. I’m ready for the literal storm to pass and to get down to repairing what’s necessary and finding our way back to our sense of normal again.
We’ve all done scary things before and together, we’ll get through this too.
Much Love.
