One of the pledge lines our students say daily is, “I pledge to respect differences in school and in life.”
We talk about how we all learn differently and their personal interests often. But our kids also embrace the value of respecting diversity in a myriad of other ways.
Just within our small school population we have 21% of our families have moved here from outside of Florida and an additional 23% who have lived in other countries.
Because we value humanity and believe we should learn from one another, our students learn about varying religious beliefs, cultural traditions, political systems, race and class issues, and plenty of ideas outside of their immediate experience.
We know we’re playing off a title of Christmas song with this 12 Days of Giving/Gift-mas Fundraiser, but we’re far from exclusionary.
