Inquiry projects are one of our pillars.
Allowing kids to investigate topics that are of interest to them provides endless opportunities and benefits.
One of the beautiful things that happen during this work is that our kids take the lead and go in directions that are unexpected for them and more complex than we may push them to start.
Allowing for that challenge and supporting it builds confidence and allows for shock and awe. In what they learn, in how they handle it, and in unexpected opportunities.
This past spring break, we had a student take his inquiry project to an even more unexpected and awe-filled level!
Frankie has been interested in aeronautics for quite some time. Last year his final inquiry project he wanted to learn about electric aircrafts and the future of aviation.
As apart of his process, he reached out to multiple professionals in an attempt to take his learning to the real world.
To our surprise, he landed and nailed an interview with CEO of magniX, an electric motor manufacturer for electric aircraft based in Seattle, Roei Ganzarski.
Because of his preparedness and the conversation they had, Roei extended an offer that if he Frankie was ever in the area, that he’d give him a tour of their facility.
Flash forward to this year’s spring break and Frankie’s family made sacrifices to help them make that trip!
We are eternally grateful for innovative companies and leaders like Roei and magniX who take the time to speak with and model what innovative and kind leadership looks like. And equally as grateful to families like Frankie’s who partner with us on this journey.
He documented his trip and what he learned and came back to share it. To say this was a trip of a lifetime is an understatement. This trip, this interview, this connection, this opportunity, this support-is how we lay the foundation for a human that sees possibilities and will certainly be brave enough to follow his dreams.
