Sing it with us, “On the 1st Day of Gift-mas Indi-ED Gave to Me, Our Littles and Their Own Yet-is.”
These Magical Yets, also known as special fairies that can help us when we are not quite there “yet”, were inspired by the fabulous book, “The Magical Yet” by Angela DiTerlizzi.
The book has fantastic examples and illustrations which help to show that learning is a journey of perseverance and overcoming obstacles – whether it be riding a bike or learning how to read.
Our K-1s constructed their “Yets” with the help of their amazing teacher, Ms. Mudd. They worked on fine motor skills, were able to try using a real sewing machine, and helped cement conversation around what they hope to learn this year.
Learning about having a growth mindset, setting goals, and having a positive mindset towards challenges is something that all of our students learn about and practice.
You may have heard of Angela Duckworth’s work around the power of having a growth mindset and we’ve seen first hand what it means to live that mentality.
