Don’t expect your usual informational, enlightening, or dose of positivity for today’s blog.
You can expect it to be real.
If you’re paying attention at all, you know this year isn’t rainbows and happy endings anywhere in education.
We get it. We’re some of the lucky ones.
We’ve got a genuine team of parents, students, and educators who actually care about each other. We can make decisions that support everyone’s health and not operate with financial success as the only or lead motivator.
But if you think that we’re not like every other small business or non-profit and haven’t had to consider all possibilities of what our future holds because of this pandemic, including not being here, you’d be avoiding the hard truths.
We’re fiscally responsible. So while we’re not a 100 year old institution with decades of legacy donors or a school that has had a property that was gifted to us like most others when they start; we’ve still been able to remain operational, not lay anyone off, or reduce salaries. Transparency. We’ve always had it and we always will.
We’ve always prided ourselves on taking the harder but right path. Kids first. Teachers matter. Genuine connections. Experiences and fun. Set the bar high. Remain flexible. Do what’s right.
Those intentional choices apply to how we’re financially structured as well. No smoke and mirrors. No money from the government. No guilting or manipulating our families to give more. No time or energy sucking fundraisers.
That doesn’t mean that we don’t need to fundraise though.
It just means that we’d rather host a comedy show and bring our loved ones together to enjoy their time or host a student-led Leadership & Social Skills Challenge so that kids are actually gaining experiences that are meaningful and partnering with businesses in our community.
Unfortunately, like everyone else this year, we’ve not been able to do those things in addition to many more.
True to form, we’re not avoiding hard conversations so that we can find solutions together.
We’re a small team that shoulder a lot. We work hard. We do it with no complaints. We take pride in knowing that we’re doing work that matters, that we’re positively changing the course of humanity, and providing something that this community needs.
So we’re coming to you directly. We’re here for our community; internal and at large so we’re asking our greater community to support our growth so that we can continue doing the important work.
This is not a pity party or a white flag signaling defeat.
It is a, support us financially if you value what we do party.
It is an informal social media campaign since we can’t be social ask.
It is a pick us up from afar soiree because we’ve got to stay at least 6 feet apart fundraiser anyway.
We’ve never done something like this. But now feels like the time. Even in the middle of when so many have lost jobs, family, faith, and hope.
Whether you’re someone who’s a part of our family or someone who has admired what we do or someone who feels compelled because you’re in the spirit of giving, will you help by contributing to our 12 Days of Give-mas?

This afternoon and over the next 12 days, you’ll see that we’re going to get back to our usual informational, enlightening, and positive selves…while adding in a little dose of fun in hopes of continuing to inspire and to help you see why we want to continue doing the work that we do.
Love and gratitude,
