They’re Starting to Take Over!

Hi, my name is Jaylyn. I’m 10 years old and in the 4th grade and I go to school at Indi-ED! I think this school is cut out for me!

So far it has improved on my positivity and other subjects that I had been having trouble with at my other school! Indi-ED helped me not only with the things I’m not very good at but it helped me improve and step up to another level on what I already know! I knew my multiplication but my teacher in my other school did not teach me my 11s and 12s in multiplication, a friend in Indi-ED named Reese taught me lattice, he’d give me any number, a number that could not even type in the calculator, and I could figure it out with lattice!!!

Last week every student had an assignment to find someone that studies and is a leader in what they are interested in. I chose Gabe Whitney, he owns Noisemakers, a school for teaching music. I had to set up the whole interview and the questions. First I had to contact him by email to set up an appointment to meet with him for an interview. He’s super nice. He agreed to meet me and my crew of cohorts. I asked him questions on what it was like to own a business of his own. The hardest thing to do in making a business for him was getting all the equipment to teach people. He also let us play the electric guitar, drums, piano, and the ukulele! It was really cool and it came out to be very official.

Listen to this, FOX 13 also came in to interview us for this online lunch service where you can order and have it delivered to your school. We’re going to be on the news this Saturday morning! It was really cool to know how it feels to be on TV.

And that is a few special things about last week!!

This past week was pretty action packed!

The students have been planning their interviews for the past week and this Wednesday, some of them met with their professionals that they chose to interview. Some of the students had their interviews outside of the school, some of them had their interviews in the school, and one student even had her interview over FaceTime!

Even though they had their interviews in different places, they all had one thing in common. They all were terrific!

We also recorded the interviews, so the students were able to watch and learn from them.

We also made the Indi – Ed pledge this week! In the pledge, it talks about being kind, respecting differences, and being grateful!

Another activity we did this week was that we worked on our legacy projects! We are going to present our projects to our families this Thursday, so we are trying to finish them up. The projects are all about who we are, what we are interested in, and how we are leaders!

I’d say even though this week was super busy, it was still productive and exciting!
